When treatments are no longer working, families often need steadiness, clarity, and help knowing what to prepare for, before hospice begins and as care continues to change.

The Family Journey is your roadmap to receive experienced, clear direction from the pre-hospice stage through the end of life, without having to figure everything out on their own.

Inside, you’ll have:

  • The new stages of ‘normal’ and what to do inside them
  • A clear guide for the in-between time, so you’re not guessing what matters most
  • Prompts to help you process your own personal journey and make decisions as the situation shifts

The Family Journey focuses on the five areas families most often struggle with during this stage, so you’re not carrying everything at once.

This short video names the stage families are often living in when treatments stop working.

The Family Journey focuses on five areas families struggle with most during this stage.

🌿 Understanding Today’s Healthcare System
What doulas know about navigating hospitals, appointments, and insurance when cure is no longer realistic.

🌿 Preparing Emotionally for What’s Coming
How to stay honest, hopeful, and grounded — even when the future feels uncertain.

🌿 Practical Preparations
The logistics, paperwork, and planning that make the journey easier for everyone involved.

🌿 Changes in Body & Mind
What to expect physically and mentally during serious illness — and how to respond with steadiness.

🌿 The Decline Pathway
Clarity on the four stages of decline, from when treatments stop working through the final stretch.

Are you in one of these situations?

(These are the signs families tell me they wish someone had named sooner.)

  • Your loved one is declining, but the care team keeps recommending “another treatment.”
  • Everyone is speaking hopefully, but you can feel things are changing.
  • You’re seeing shifts you don’t know how to talk about without sounding like you’re giving up.
  • Hospital visits or flare-ups are becoming more frequent, but no one is mentioning next steps.
  • You feel unprepared for what’s coming — and you’re not sure where to get steady guidance.
  • Your person is already on hospice, but you still need more clarity and support.
  • You’ve been the “strong one” for so long that you’re exhausted, but don’t know how to take care of yourself in this.

Then you’re in the right place.
You’re not imagining what’s happening.
And steady guidance matters here.

Meet Deanna, Your Guide

Since 2000, I’ve been caring for families through serious illness and the end-of-life time, and teaching professionals how to do this work skillfully and honestly.

I’ve spent decades in living rooms, hospital rooms, and hospice settings, helping families navigate the in-between time when treatments stop working and things begin to change.

The CARE Package exists because families deserve access to the same steady guidance that professionals are trained to provide, applied to their own situation, in real time.

What Families Report Getting:

  • Less anxiety and fear about the unknown
  • Real confidence in knowing what to do
  • More graceful presence during difficult times
  • Practical skills you can use immediately
  • Personal healing from past loss experiences
  • Trust in your own wisdom and instincts
  • Tools for self-care while caring for others
  • Professional-level guidance without professional training

Serious illness doesn’t follow a straight line.
Some days are stable.
Some days everything shifts.

FAQ Section

Q: Will Deanna help me directly? A: YES! Twice a month, you get direct guidance from her when you need it. Once LIVE in Office Hours and anytime during the month you can write in with your personal situation and she will send you an audio reply.

Q: Does it matter if my loved one is not terminal? A: Your loved one can be in any time period. Our focus is not on helping you with curative treatment options. Our focus is on helping you provide stability and comfort and know what to do as you navigate their current stage of their healthcare journey.

Q: How is this different from grief counseling or medical information? A: This is practical guidance for navigating the healthcare system, having difficult conversations, and supporting someone through decline. It’s what every person dealing with serious illness should know about the logistics and emotional aspects of serious illness.

Q: Will this work if we’re still hoping for recovery? A: Yes. Deanna’s intention is to help you where you are stuck right now. We can hold both hope and realism simultaneously. You’ll learn how to support your loved one’s wishes while also being prepared for different outcomes.

Q: What if I have more questions than Office Hours and my additional question? A. If you need more than this, than Deanna feels the most responsible thing to do is to have a quick conversation to assess your need and see if it is time to work together privately for one month to sort out your situation. Your fee will be applied.
